Date: 07 March 2025
To mark and celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) and its theme, Accelerate Action, Garrets International spotlights some of the remarkable women leading excellence in our global business.
Adopt, Adapt, Abort. An approach, which Eimee has consistently applied through her professional career and personal life. In her role as APAC Operations Manager, she leads a large team of vessel account professionals and remains committed to this path, working towards operational excellence. Being the primary point of contact for our global customers, her team works closely with suppliers worldwide to ensure seamless and efficient delivery of our provision service to vessels across the globe.
“One key achievement stands out – that is turning around my team's customer satisfaction performance and developing the skills of our critical Vessel Account Manager and Stocktaking Analyst roles.”
Leading a team of newly appointed leads, Eimee embraced the challenge of coaching and empowering them to succeed. Her team has played a crucial role in driving significant changes to enhance and optimize processes and systems whilst fostering continuous improvement. Eimee continues: “I am excited about what we can contribute to the business, working collaboratively as a team to celebrate our wins whilst learning from our challenges.”
About Eimee:
“I’m very proud of the strong relationships, I’ve been able to develop with Garrets customers through open and honest communication. It can make the difference between a satisfied customer and an unhappy vessel crew”, says Alena.
As a Business Development Manager, Alena is responsible for adding to Garrets’ customer portfolio in Greece, Turkey and the Middle East. With her professional background in languages and communication, family roots in the maritime industry, international mindset and open approach to people, Alena has created a strong foundation for straightforward conversations with customers – while understanding their challenges and valuing their feedback, whether it is positive or negative. “Only if I know their frustrations, can I have a chance to do something about it.”
Being a female leader can also sometimes prove a surprise to customers. With many aspects of the maritime industry still being male-dominated, she believes that it is important to support the representation of women, showcasing that women also have a place within the maritime industry as strong professionals at all levels and roles – it’s not about competing or outplaying each other, it’s about valuing differences and getting a fair chance to achieve one’s potential.
About Alena:
“I firmly believe that great accomplishments stem from teamwork and I’m very fortunate to work with talented and dedicated people”, says Janni.
In her role as Finance Director, Janni is responsible for leading a global finance team from diverse backgrounds, focussed on financial reporting, process and compliance. As a new member of the senior management team, she has actively contributed to the development and implementation of the new strategic plan for Garrets. With a strategic leadership mindset her focus has been on collaborating across all business functions to ensure our teams are aligned around process and outcomes. She emphasizes: “Without collaboration, knowledge-sharing and mutual support, we would not be able to achieve our goals.”
About Janni:
“I’m extremely proud that a key customer has chosen to add a substantial number of vessels to our provision management – a testament to the great teamwork at Garrets!” highlights Claire.
As a Key Account Manager, Claire serves as the primary point of contact for our customers. Currently, she manages 15 customers with around 150 vessels under Garrets’ Budget Management.
Recently, Claire received positive feedback from a key customer, expressing satisfaction with Garrets’ services and, as a result, committed to adding a further 20 vessels to our provision management services this year.
