Garrets sponsors Shipping Company of the Year award

For the 7th year, the International Seafarers' Welfare Awards recognise excellence in seafarers' welfare and those who are helping to raise standards across the industry. Garrets is proud to announce that we once again will be sponsoring Shipping Company of the Year award. The award will be given to the shipping company or ship management company that has strived to provide the highest quality welfare services for seafarers.

Last time the award went to Anglo Eastern and MF Shipping Group for their dedicated efforts to their staff in recreational facilities on board, social events, gym and sports equipment, on board telephone facilities and free e-mail etc. See pictures and read more about the announcement here.

This year, Garrets CEO, Niels Snog, is invited to join the judge panel to find the winners. Niels said: "It is important to acknowledge those who does the best for our seafarers in the industry, and I am delighted to be a part of this."

The shortlist of nominations will be announced in February 2018.

Seafarers are invited to nominate candidates online across four categories by the 1st December 2017 deadline.

The awards ceremony will go ahead in April 2018 during the Third Meeting of the Special Tripartite Committee of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006).
