Date: 05 October 2017
In April this year we could tell the good news of supporting 22-year old Edward Cunanan by the help of Sailors Society.
Sailors' Society was delighted to receive support from Garrets International to fund a student to receive a Sailors' Society – Homer Foundation Scholarship to the Magsaysay Institute for Hospitality and Culinary Arts in 2017. The chosen student, Edward Cunanan, began his training in April of this year and we are delighted to be able to provide a report on his progress.
Each week Edward has been taken through a different aspect of culinary training in depth. So far he has covered: Sanitation, Knives and Equipment, Fish and Poultry, Meats and Games, Stocks, Sauces, Baking, Dry-Heat Cooking Methods, Moist-Heat Cooking Methods, and Breakfast.

Edward has written reports on his experiences during different parts of the course and the following excerpts show what he has been up to.
Sarah Summers, Partnerships Development Executive at Sailors Society, says:
"Garrets International is having a huge impact on Edward's education and future prospects, on his behalf please allow us to say thank you for your generous support."
We, at Garrets, are happy to receive such great news, which indeed supports the values of our company. We look forward to receive further information from Edward and to follow him on his exciting journey.
